Come Back Every Year for These Traditional Events at Hotel Colorado
Glenwood Springs, CO –
Known for its creative and innovative special events, Hotel Colorado is justly famous for its recurring events that reflect its history and traditions.
Robert Burns Celebration — A night devoted to Scotland’s National Bard — our annual tribute to the life, works, and spirit of the great Scottish poet, Robert Burns (1759 – 1796). Enjoy the Celtic sounds, songs and dance of Fifth Reel coupled with a traditional Scottish meal with, of course, Haggis. The evening features a recitation of the works of Mr. Burns, a mass march and dance.
Devereux Polo Cup —Hotel Colorado’s association with polo goes back to the hotel’s co-founder, Walter Devereux, whose passion for the sport helped put Glenwood Springs and Hotel Colorado on the map. The Devereux Cup honors his memory and to give the community a taste of the excitement our great-grandparents must have experienced as they played or watched “the sport of kings” here in their own back yard.
Hotel Colorado Birthday — An annual week-long event commemorating Hotel Colorado’s long history of grandeur and service to the community. Events include hotel tours and birthday specials, and of course birthday cake will be served in the lobby.
Holiday Magic — Every Christmas season, volunteers spend hundreds of hours designing and creating an enchanting wonderland that resonates through the halls of the Hotel Colorado. Thousands of lights are placed in and around the Hotel. Decorated trees and themed, animated scenes fill each corner of the main floor. Outdoors, larger-than-life wire framed characters illuminate the Hotel’s courtyard and rooftops.
There’s lots more, from barbecues to high tea to concerts with local artists like Jon Chandler and dances with live music. Every year the events get better and better. For current information on what’s happening at Hotel Colorado, visit the hotel events page or call 970-945-6511.
