Hotel Colorado History Tours are bringing back to life long-deceased characters who shaped both the Hotel’s and Glenwood Springs’ past. Enthralling guests with stories and lore, gossip and tales, are lively “ghosts” animated by professional portrayalists associated with the Glenwood Springs Historical Society.

Tour Details

Guests, visitors and locals alike can experience the spirited characters for themselves on a Hotel Colorado History Tour. Tour guides include the Town Marshall of New Castle Jasper Ward, visionary Walter Devereux who built the Hotel Colorado, frontierswoman Eleanora Malaby, who bravely traveled by horse over Independence Pass, and more. The portrayalists will share the remarkable stories of the Hotel Colorado’s history—some of which includes first-hand accounts of previous guests and staff members.

The one-hour tours take place weekly on Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 10:15 a.m. through Labor Day and begin in the Hotel Colorado lobby. Cost is $20 per person which is split equally between the Hotel Colorado, the Glenwood Springs Historical Society and the portrayalists. Click Here to register for tours or call 970-945-6511. The Hotel Colorado History Tours are a partnership with the Glenwood Springs Historical Society and proceeds from the tours helps support the non-profit and its entities, including the Frontier Historical Museum and the Doc Holliday Museum.
