Hotel Colorado knows something about decking the halls for holiday visitors. They’ve been spreading holiday cheer with boughs of holly and more for over 130 years. For many, it’s a family tradition to spend time in the brilliantly illuminated courtyard, enjoy a special once-a-year meal or wander through the lobby to view holiday scenes in motion. During the “most wonderful time of the year,” Hotel Colorado at Christmastime is a memory-making experience for guests of all ages.
Shining Bright
Hotel Colorado is famous for having one of the showiest outdoor lighting displays on the Western Slope of Colorado—and that’s saying something! Streaming from the rooftops and illuminating the treetops are thousands of lights in every shade of the rainbow. The hotel courtyard, a charming year-round outdoor space, is transformed into a gleaming jewel after dark. The sight is truly mesmerizing. Throughout the winter months, visitors can warm up cold hands around gas-fired braziers. For deep-down warmth, enjoy hot drinks such as cocoa, coffee from Legends Coffee & Gift Shop or for something stronger—spirit infused cocktails from the Hotel Colorado Restaurant & Bar.
Festive Fare
For Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners, Executive Chef Aaron Haga pulls out all the stops with mouthwatering holiday meals that can be enjoyed at home. The take-home menu begins with a garden salad and dinner rolls. The main entrée is slow roasted fresh Colorado turkey and honey glazed ham with sides of Yukon mashers, green bean casserole, traditional stuffing, gravy and homemade cranberry sauce. Dessert is New York cheesecake with fresh wild berries and a strawberry coulis. Dinners are available for 2-3, 4-5 and 6-8 people and vary in price from $150 to $500. Carry-out orders must be placed by December 21. To place carry-out orders for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day dinner, phone 970-928-3767 today.
The North Pole is Closer Than You Think
It’s not just the food that’s celebratory; Santa, his elves and the spirit of Christmas come to life inside Hotel Colorado. Holiday displays are tucked in nearly every nook and niche. Many are mechanized with characters that move including Santa and Mrs. Claus. A giant Christmas tree decorated with ribbon and ornaments adorns the main lobby while holiday tunes infuse the air with a joyful sound. It’s doubtful Santa’s workshop at the North Pole is any less festive. Staging the displays takes hundreds of hours for the hotel’s staff members. The reward for all the hard work is seeing the smiling faces of guests, especially children, spellbound by the moving holiday characters.
