A Vibrant & Balanced Cocktail
The Polo Lounge has a new drink called The Driftwood, a masterful cocktail that balances spicy notes with bright citrus flavors and a touch of sweetness. It’s an inviting blend that captures the essence of Colorado.
Nestled in the heart of Glenwood Springs, the historic Polo Lounge has a storied legacy of concocting exceptional drinks. From Teddy’s Last Word Martini to the Glenwood Misty Dew, the barkeeps draw inspiration from a stunning antique back bar and the captivating historic photos of Theodore Roosevelt and polo ponies that adorn the walls. It’s a place where the past meets the present, and where expert mixologists are crafting the next generation of iconic drinks.
Esteemed bartender Ashley Efraim recently unveiled her latest creation; The Driftwood, a cocktail that captures the essence of Colorado’s rugged beauty and refined elegance. This sophisticated cocktail showcases a local whiskey from the acclaimed Woody Creek Distillers in nearby Basalt.

The Driftwood is a harmonious blend of bold and refreshing flavors. The slightly spicy notes of the rye whiskey blend seamlessly with the bright citrus flavors of lemon and orange juice. The addition of grenadine adds a touch of sweetness and a beautiful blush hue to the drink, making it as visually appealing as it is delicious. This combination creates a complex and balanced flavor profile that is both refreshing and warming.
